In 2015 the Chichester Boys Club embarked on a major rebuild of the main roof (45meters long) and the rooms under the roof at the east and west end of the building. The main reason for the replacement of the roof was that the old roof was 50 years old and made out of corrugated asbestos cement, which was leaking on a regular basis and costing the club in maintenance bills.

We approached a number of contractors for the roof replacement and also, because the roof was south facing, a number of contractors for a solar panel system. One of the contractors (UK Solar Power Panels) quoted for both elements of the work. The company had been recommended to us by a previous customer who we knew. We were very impressed by our first impressions of the company due to their professionalism, communications, and reliability.

From the start, they did what they said they would do. For instance their quotes, which were very detailed and easy to comprehend, were prompt and they answered any queries we had. It also made sense to us to have both pieces of work done by the same contractor. Our building is difficult to access for contractors doing work, being in the centre of a busy Roman city with its narrow streets and lack of parking.

We found their reliability continued on day one, with scaffolding and materials arriving on time. Despite the problems caused by our location and our clients coming and going, some of which suffer from dementia and mild mental health problems, UK Solar Power Panels, worked their way through these problems intelligently with good communications with us.

We found the staff cheerful, cooperative, and very polite. The safety of our clients were paramount, as most of them do not like change and new people, but the staff dealt with this in a friendly and caring way. At the end of the project, we were so pleased with the work that we asked UK Solar Power Panels to look into a battery system to compliment the solar panel system. Once again we obtained a very competitive quote from them and went ahead with the system which means we are now 80% off grid. This has given us savings on heating and lighting, plus a government feed in tariff which has so far earned us over £4,000.

The after care has also been excellent. They answered any of our queries and questions regarding the system promptly. It is a company I would highly recommend to any potential customer.
